Types of nursing units
- Admitting – Nursing unit the patient was admitted to
- Primary – Nursing unit the patient spent the most days in
- Discharging – Nursing unit the patient was discharged from
Using nursing units
In profiles
Create a profile to look at one specific nursing unit or group of nursing units. For more information, see Customize profiles.
- In any scorecard, click Profiles.
- Click +Add a Profile.
- Filter the patient population by Nursing Unit and/or Nursing Unit Type.
- Save profile and use throughout your scorecard.
In Details view
Stratify the data to look at a measure grouped by nursing unit. For more information, see Details.
- Add a measure you’d like to look at – we’ll use length of stay.
- Group the data by nursing unit – we’ll use admitting nursing unit.
- Continue your analysis by adding any additional Group-Bys or Measures.
Nursing unit-specific scorecard
Edit the Hospital Scorecard to make a Telemetry scorecard. For more information, see Customize scorecards.
- Open the Hospital Scorecard from your Scorecard Templates.
- Create a custom version of the scorecard and name it whatever you’d like by clicking the pencil icon in the top right hand corner of your screen.
- Exit Customizer mode by clicking the green check mark.
- Create a new profile by clicking the Profile Manager and adding a new profile. See Customize profiles for more information.
- Filter the patient population to include only telemetry nursing units by first adding a filter on Nursing Unit and clearing all the selected Nursing Units.
- In the same Nursing Unit filter, select the telemetry units for your facility. The units listed are different on each individual server.
- Optional: Check the box to make this profile the default profile for this scorecard – this automatically uses this profile in all sections unless otherwise specified.
- Save this profile, exit the Profile Manager, and start your analysis.

NOTE: Remember that profiles are scorecard-specific, so a profile you build on one scorecard is not available on another scorecard unless you recreate it.
